Honorary President of Green Cross Ukraine

January 31, 2002 the outstanding political figure, Founding President of Green Cross International, Mikhail Gorbachev and President of Green Cross Ukraine, Rector of the National Music Academy of Ukraine, Academician, National Artist of Ukraine O. S. Timoshenko signed "Agreement on the Recognition between Green Cross Ukraine and Green Cross International". Since then, thanks to this significant event Green Cross Ukraine successfully implements the projects on the territory of Ukraine.

Oleg S. Timoshenko (December 4, 1932, Kremennaya, Donetsk region, USSR - December 20, 2010) - People's Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, academician-secretary of the department of musical art academy, Professor, Honorary President of Green Cross Ukraine.

Oleg Timoshenko was a founding academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, in 1997 - the academician-secretary of the department of musical art academy.

Oleg Timoshenko belonged to the pleiad of outstanding figures of musical culture, who did much to its development and education of talented young artists. For many years being rector and professor at the P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy, Oleg Timoshenko made a fundamental scientific and practical base for the education of young musicians who contributed to the implementation of the educational process of new areas of music, the opening of new specialties and specializations. He was author of scientific and methodical works on the history and theory of choral art.

Based on the achievements of world music, O. Timoshenko with great interest and concern contributed to the development and enrichment of a long tradition of choral art in Ukraine. He conducted a tremendous public work as president of Association for Music Education and training, the secretary of the National Union of Ukrainian music.

Oleg Timoshenko was awarded the Order "For Merits" of I, II and III degree, "Badge of Honor" Diplomas of the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as those of the number of foreign countries.

Commemoration of Outstanding Person

September 10, 2012 at 17.00 PM the memorial plaque (for the first time ever during 100-year-history of the conservatory) was opened on the facade of the building of the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music (1-3/11Horodetskoho Street) in honor of Oleg S. Tymoshenko, long-term rector, academician-founder of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, member of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Association of Music Teachers and Education, Chairman of the Coordination Council of the European Association of Music Academies and Conservatories, Academician, Professor, Honored Artist of Ukraine, full Cavalier of the Order of Merit, Founder and Honored President of Green Cross Ukraine.

The authors of the commemorative plaque are: A. Valiev, Honored Artist of Ukraine, sculptor and Y. Podhorodetskiy, architect.
