1025th Anniversary of Baptism of Rus
The celebrations of the 1025th anniversary of Baptism of Rus took place in Kyiv on July 26-28.
The ceremony on the anniversary of Baptism of Rus was held in Kyiv in the Palace "Ukraina" on 26th of July. Except for Viktor Yanukovych the President of Russian Vladimir Putin, the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic visited the Ukrainian capital on the occasion of high day. In addition to the heads of states the heads of nine and representative delegations of six local Orthodox churches came to Kyiv to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of Baptism of Rus. In particular, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus Kirill came to the festivities. The President of the Green Cross Ukraine (GCU) Maksym Tymoshenko was also invited to the celebrations.
On July 27, the complin took place in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and in the morning of 28th of July there was festive Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral Square of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
