Activity of GCU Mother and Child Club in Gorlovka

Green Cross Ukraine charitable organisation within SOCMED program conducts its activities in Zhytomyr, Slavutych, Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky, Bila Tserkva and Donetsk region. Nadezhda Opaluk (deputy chairman of Gorlovka Ecological Commission, Donetsk region) is the head of GCU Donetsk department.
GCU Mother and Child Club works on the basis of GCU charitable organisation in Gorlovka. Nadezhda Opaluk and her team work diligently to help families who need support, conduct different useful actions and productively cooperate with young reporters of the local Skrepka children's newspaper.
The members of the Club are very different people: deputies and their assistants, mothers of large families, young journalists who are interested in writing stories about family problems and even children who want to help people to live better. They worked smart during the whole year. By common efforts of these people with the assistance of Green Cross Ukraine charitable organization one managed to organize a tour for children deprived of parental care to dolphinarium in Donetsk city.Together with young reporters of Skrepka children’s newspaper the members of GCU Mother and Child Club cleared cleaned the Alley of military honor. They also organised the Day of birthday child for little children from large families. It was a real feast for boys and girls. Besides, they arranged a trip for talented children from large and low-income families to the International Festival.
Many mothers address to the club for support and good advice. Here they can find new friends, understanding, get valuable experience, learn to educate their children properly and find ways out of difficult situations. The Club employs specialists, psychologists, doctors, lawyers, who provide its members with assistance and consultations. No one is left without attention, understanding and support.
The following year GCU Mother and Child Club is going to continue its activities in Gorlovka. Donetsk department, headed by Nadezhda Opaluk plans to extend the work of the school for young mothers, collect clothes and things for children from low-income families, help talented children to realize their creative projects. They also plan to improve the health of children affected by the Chernobyl accident who live in Gorlovka as well as support charitable actions aimed at development of children’s creativity.
Many parents and children are grateful to GCU Mother and Child Club and Nadezhda Opaluk for the work they have done, for their attention, support and opportunity to gain valuable experience and learn to help each other.
