Children`s Ecological Therapy Camps SOCMED 2015
International SOCMED Program continues its activity in Ukraine. Coordination and financial support of Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) is very important for continuation of activities and realization of the project in Ukraine in the framework of International SOCMED Program, director of which is Maria Vitagliano (GCCH).
The project "Ecological Summer Therapy Camp" within the framework of International SOCMED Program carries out due to partnership and financial support of Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH), as well as local partners in Ukraine.
This year the partnership was renewed and an agreement on joint activities with the sanatorium "Deneshi" and the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration was signed. Thanks to cooperation jointly with partners in Ukraine, SOCMED Project "Ecological Summer Therapy Camp" has been successfully implemented.
In total during the summer period the health of 110 children in the age of 9 - 16 years was improved. During 21 days children had the opportunity to improve their health and undergo the course of therapy and rehabilitation in summer therapy camps in Transcarpathia in therapeutic recreation complex "Polonyna" and health center “Denyshi” (July-August 2015).
All camp participants underwent medical survey and took the course of treatment according to recommendations of physicians. Health rehabilitation programs were developed for children and complex treatment and recreation based on natural healing resources were conducted. In accordance to prescribed recommendations of physicians children took pine and low sulfide baths, baths with herbs and sea salt, drank mineral water, underwent physiotherapy, inhalation, climatic, pelloid and heat therapy, took ozocerite applications, underwent course of medical massage, made therapeutic exercises and swam. Daily pedagogues and volunteers carried out with children the work aimed at improvement of their environmental education and awareness.
Thanks to partnership and joint activities with the National ecological and naturalistic center we also can take part in the projects of health recovery and environmental education of children. In June 2015, due to support of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine and the National ecological and naturalistic center 120 children from 20 regions of Ukraine have been improved their health and increased environmental education at the camp "Yunnat". Various ecological events were organized for children and all conditions for their rehabilitation and recreation were created. Children had the opportunity to improve their knowledge in the field of ecology, recover and relax, thanks to the well-prepared camp program aimed at developing of children love and respect for nature, with interesting environmental activities, excursions, workshops and round tables. Rehabilitation and ecological education of children were possible thanks to a well-organized events and cohesion teaching staff of the National ecological and naturalistic center, as well as help of volunteers.
We would like to thank and express sincere gratitude to the regional coordinators of Green Cross Ukraine, partners in regions, management of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of Zhytomyr regional state administration, health center “Denyshi”, therapeutic recreation complex "Polonyna" and National ecological and naturalistic center for the cooperation and support of the project, as well as all involved medical staff, pedagogues, instructors and volunteers who have made effort for conduction of qualitative recovery of children from 3-4 Chernobyl zones.
We are confident that owing to our partners from Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) and Ukraine, joint cooperation and support we will be able to continue to help and organize a qualitative recovery and rehabilitation of children in Ukraine.
