Green Cross General Assembly 2015

Mikhail Gorbachev was chosen to adopt the Chairmanship of the Board of Green Cross International at the organization’s 2015 General Assembly. This new role for the Founding President was voted by the membership in Geneva on 5 October.

The Assembly also saw the addition of five new Board members:
Mubarick Masawudu, President of Green Cross Ghana
Dominika Kulczyk, President of Green Cross Poland
Jean-Michel Cousteau, President of Green Cross France and Territories
Ernst von Weizsäcker, Co-President of the Club of Rome
Ashok Khosla, Chairman of Development Alternatives
Koffi Mathieu Mahika from Côte d’Ivoire and Marisa Arienza from Argentina ended their terms on the Board. Green Cross thanks them for their contributions to the network’s governing body, and salutes their continued work with the national organizations GC Côte d’Ivoire and GC Argentina. Mohan Munasinghe, from Sri Lanka, also retired from the Board. Professor Munasinghe addressed the Assembly and received a special commendation from GCI President Alexander Likhotal.
“I have learned so much from you over these past few years,” said Munasinghe. “This is a unique institution that has done much for the global environment, and will continue to do so.”
Alexander Likhotal promised that this was “goodbye, but not farewell”, and thanked Munasinghe for his years of dedication to Green Cross.
