Meeting with children in Korosten
With the beginning of new school year representatives of Green Cross Ukraine that was a partner and promoter of the project Meeting the world: Swiss Youth Camp made a planed visit to the regions and held meetings with children on site to give additional examination of psychological and physical state of these children as well as to give them a possibility to share impressions and ideas with their peers and other interested people.
September 30, 2011 under the auspices of Palamarchuk Nelia Anatolivna, coordinator of Zhytomyr region and GCU Mother and Child club there was a meeting in Korosten on the base of Zhytomyr city Ostrovsky centralized library. Over 40 people took part in the meeting and more than 20 - children. At the meeting coordinator of Zhytomyr region Palamarchuk Nelia Anatolivna and Chairman of the Board, GCU Executive Director Sapiga Yuriy Stanislavovych welcomed the quests, congratulated children on the beginning of new school year, told about Green Cross activity in general and the activity of Green Cross Ukraine in particular.
Participants were familiarized with European Union Youth in Action program and informed about the project Meeting the world: Swiss Youth Camp. Participants and group leaders of this project could share their experience, gained knowledge and impressions. Children prepared presentation and photos about their trip to Switzerland and told with pleasure what new and interesting they learned having participated in Swiss Youth Camp. They told lively and interestingly about their participation in the Camp, workshops, excursions and other activities that were organised there and also how useful and interesting was their trip.
Psychologist and social workers presented at the meeting noticed improvement of emotional, mental and physiological health of children.
At the end of the meeting, participants were asked to fill in questionnaires to collect children’s opinions and give additional examination. Green Cross Ukraine also presented participants pens and children who took part in Camp were presented with envelops with memory photos about their trip.
In future we are going to keep in touch with these children who will be able to receive an effective assistance in case of need.
