Project Activity under Smart Water for Green Schools
May 24, 2013 in the rural school of Nevgody in Ovruch district, Zhytomyr region there was the training for the local population on the topic “Treatment of households’ waste-water”. That day the doctors from mobile medical team of Zhytomyr Regional Children’s Hospital performed examination of children as part of the Smart Water for Green Schools project (SWGS) of Green Cross International (GCI). The activity was done with financial support from the International Forum Committee (IFC) and the World Water Council (WWC).

That day the doctors from mobile medical team of Zhytomyr Regional Children’s Hospital performed examination of children as part of the Smart Water for Green Schools project (SWGS) of Green Cross International (GCI). The activity was done with financial support from the International Forum Committee (IFC) and the World Water Council (WWC).
In addition to useful information about the problems of water and sanitation, the condition of water resources, water supply and access to clean drinking water, water consumption, interaction between human health and water use, the rational use of water resources local population were given tips on advanced treatment of household’s water. In the future the residents will be able to apply their knowledge and share them with others .
The training took place in the form of interactive, with discussions, demonstrations, practicing, which in turn will help the audience better understand and perceive the information. Evaluation of water was conducted and recommendations of its extra treatment were given.
This information campaign for the population increased awareness about water and sanitation, and gave the necessary knowledge about the prevention of disease and health improvement of adults and children.
Such events and activities are only possible thanks to the partnership that we have been building for 12 years with partners in Ukraine and foreign partners.
Due to Anatoliy Demydchuk, Head of the Nevgody village council, Viktor Marchenko, Chief Doctor of the Zhytomyr Regional Children's Hospital, mobile team of doctors (dentist, surgeon, ENT, neurologist, ophthalmologist), and the school principal Olga Zubriichuk it became possible to carry out our activities in the village of Nevgody.
