Social and Medical Problems of the Lutskys
Another family has become the beneficiaries of Green Cross, who received social assistance under the international program Socmed and projects Mother and Child club and Social Cooperatives.
Since last year, the family of Tatiana Lutsky (29) is a member of Mother and Child club in Zhytomyr region.
At the moment resettled family lives in Nevgody village, in Zhytomyr region related to the third Chernobyl zone. Tatiana's husband - Alexander Lutsky (34) has a second category as affected by the Chernobyl accident. He was resettled from the 30-km. exclusion zone. Subsidies and benefits, which the father receives from the state, are only 240 UAH (30 CHF) per month. Also he receives the money not regularly.
The family raises three young children: Ruslana (7), Dennis (6) and Sasha (1). All of them are very friendly, united and love each other. Ruslana helps her mom, she looks after her little brother, and tries to do everything possible. Also she likes reading books. Dennis does not go to school. He dreams that one day he will have his private schoolbag, and when he grows up – he will take after his father and be like him.
At the moment, the mother is unemployed. The father works in a farm from time to time. He makes any work that is offered for him, it is mostly transportation of different cargoes by horses. That is hardly enough to feed a large family. They dream of buying a cow, but the family cannot afford it, they have no money.
The Lutskys wanted to organize its small business. They really wanted to breed rabbits, but they could not afford to buy them. Owing to Green Cross, their dream came true. They received 10 rabbits for free.
"Now children will have something to eat. We will breed rabbits, then sell some of them in order to live "- said Tatiana, the mother of children.
Due to the fact that the family lives in the affected areas and suffered from the Chernobyl accident, all family members have poor health states. Little Sasha is particularly affected. Since his birth he has lung problems, he is ill almost every two months, he suffered from pneumonia. Other children have enlarged thyroid gland, problems with joints and cardiovascular system.
"The only thing I wish is my children to grow up and be healthy" - said Alexander, the father of children.
As members of Mother and Child club, the family learn a lot about the activities of Green Cross. They are very interested in the project "Ecological Therapy Camp”. Parents hope very much that someday their children will be able to take part in the camp and improve their health.
