"With nature in one’s heart"
This year Green Cross Ukraine organization together with its partner National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for pupils and students under the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports organized the "International Youth Eco-Camp" for children. There were 220 children, who took part in this camp. It was delegations from all regions of Ukraine, children from Russia, Belarus, Moldova.
The camp was held from June 22 to July 1, 2011. Opening ceremony of international session called "With nature in one’s heart" took place on June 23. The celebration started with striking parade of delegations in national costumes with flags. Ukrainian side met all participants, friends and welcomed them with Korowai. The delegations from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova let white doves fly into the sky as a token of friendship and peace.
During the camp various activities were organized for children. According to the program scientific and research work was carried out and exchange of experience was provided. Children participated in clubs and hobby groups, visited exhibitions, cultural and artistic institutions, historical and cultural sightseeing areas of Kyiv. Almost every day children had fascinating excursions.
Volunteers-youth leaders worked with the children. As s result they gained new knowledge and valuable experience while working with children in the camp. Green Cross Ukraine provided T-shirts for group leaders, supervisors and also ties to other participants.
At the end of the camp children became healthier, they gained more energy and felt rested. Also, all the participants acquired new knowledge and skills, learned a great deal of useful and interesting information. An international camp provided great opportunity for children from different countries to learn more about each other and find out something new about the culture of each country. All the children made new friends and established warm and friendly relations.
