2050 - The Future We WantThis year, a network of Green Cross National organizations marks a significant event - the 20th anniversary Green Cross International founding. In this regard, various activitiess dedicated to this important event are going to be held during the year.
One of the priorities of our organizations activity is to attract young people to the missions, programs and projects aimed at raising awareness, prevention and effective responding to environmental emergencies that have environmental and humanitarian impact, providing social and medical care, environmental education, assistance in settling the problems of families and communities living in areas of environmental contamination, sustainable and secure future for the planet.
A key feature of Green Cross International’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations is the international youth musical called 2050 – The Future We Want that will be held in the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland), on September 3, 2013. The Musical will be jointly produced by Peace Child International and Green Cross International. The performance will take the audience on a retrospective journey from 2050, when the world has reached the “Future We Want” to show how the challenges of our time can be tackled. Alexander Likhotal, President of GCI, said the musical will be a testament to the vision of Founding President Mikhail Gorbachev to draw international attention to the combined threats faced by humanity and the environment, and suggest pathways forward that all sectors of society can – and must – embrace to give all people a chance of survival and the Earth a future.
The story will be jointly developed by the active creative young people selected from different countries for participation in the Musical.
In this respect, Peace Child International and Green Cross International, invite interested young people aged 18-25 with not just exceptional performing abilities as singers, dancers and/or actors - but also with a keen interest in the global issues that will shape their lives in this century, to take advantage of a unique opportunity to take part in the Musical.
