It so happened that our peaceful, free and kind Ukraine, which never threatened anyone and never attacked anyone, was bombarded by the enemy who covered himself with completely senseless motives and intentions.
It is very difficult and anxious for all of us to believe what happened.
But now this is our reality. In Ukraine, there is a real confrontation between good, democratic values and freedom against the aggressor.
The Honor and Will to freedom of Ukrainians is so great that neither our friends nor our enemies could adequately assess it. For the former, it came as a pleasant surprise, and for the latter, it was the cause of their own imminent catastrophe.
Dear friends, colleagues and everyone who knows us and our entire GCU Team, as well as me, as a co-founder of the Green Cross in Ukraine and just as a person who has always helped and lent his shoulder to everyone who needed help and not only in Ukraine.
Now we, our people, need humanitarian help.
We appeal to everyone with a request for help, who can support in this very difficult time for us in Ukraine.
Today, March 4, 2022, hostilities continue in Ukraine as a result of Russia's invasion on the territory of independent Ukraine.
The most affected regions are Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kherson, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
We want to inform you that the central office, the entire GCU team, regional coordinators in the regions where our organization has been operating for 23 years, continue their humanitarian work in difficult conditions.

But what kind of guarantees will we have? And most importantly: which specific countries will give them to us?”

The Ukrainian people need guarantees and accurate information about the countries that will be ready to provide them for the confidence and security of the lives of families and all of our people.

It is very difficult for all of us to cope with the invaders, but we are trying to be strong, and we will stand in this struggle for independence and freedom.

The Green Cross Ukraine continues to cooperate with the Green Cross Switzerland, focusing its experience, partnerships and efforts on activities within the international SOCMED program in Ukraine. The relevance of the program is determined by the constant need of the population for social and medical care, which is subject to the negative impact of the environment due to the Chernobyl accident and other adverse factors. Together with partners, social, medical and educational assistance is provided to the population experiencing the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and living in the 3rd and 4th Chernobyl zones. Preserving the health of the population is the most important task in overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. Objective is improving the health of mothers and their children, providing counseling and disseminating knowledge on how they can improve living conditions.
Within the framework of the project "EU4Youth:" School Garden "for the agricultural entrepreneurship" Green Cross Ukraine continues to work and cooperate with partners in the Zhytomyr region, jointly develops business incubators on school grounds. The work of the pupils of the Selyanschinsky Sports Lyceum in the classes that are held in the area of closed farming allows them to acquire practical skills in the field of vegetable growing, students start loving agriculture, such activity introduces and enables high school students to conduct scientific research and even earn certain funds. Experiments are performed by students according to the plan, they have an educational and production orientation.
Within the European Union's international technical assistance project of "School Garden", which aims to create a network of production incubators for modern entrepreneurship, professional and social growth of young people in needy rural settlements, Green Cross Ukraine facilitates cooperation with the National Ecology and Nature Center of student youth under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Green Cross Ukraine, together with the National Ecology and Nature Center (NENC), partners in the Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions, continue to implement the EU4Youth: School Garden for the Development of Agricultural Entrepreneurship project, funded by the European Union.
